Teaching the Beautiful Names of Allah Through Coloring

When a child colours the name Al-Rahman or Al-Malik, they are not just filling spaces — they are meeting their Lord, one beautiful name at a time.

When a child colours the name Al-Rahman or Al-Malik, they are not just filling spaces — they are meeting their Lord, one beautiful name at a time.

There are 99 Beautiful Names of Allah, and each one opens a window into who He is. Al-Rahman, the Most Merciful. Al-‘Aleem, the All-Knowing. Al-Khaliq, the Creator. For a young child, these words can feel distant — until their hands meet them on the page.

Colouring the names of Allah is a soft, natural way to make them real.

Start with recognition, not memorisation

We do not begin by asking a four-year-old to memorise. We begin by letting them see. Our Allah name coloring page presents the name الله in clear, colourable outline, with the English word beneath. The child traces the shape with crayon before they ever read it.

A weekly rhythm that works

  • Pick one name each week. Say it often. “Al-Hameed — the Praiseworthy. All praise belongs to Him.”
  • Colour the name together on a quiet afternoon.
  • Display it on the fridge or a bedroom wall.
  • At bedtime, whisper the name as part of their dua.

By the end of the year, your wall holds a gallery of the Beautiful Names — and your child holds them in their heart.

Go deeper with flashcards

Once recognition is warm, move to our Names of Allah flashcards. Each card pairs a name with a simple meaning a child can act on. Colour the cards, punch a hole, and hang them on a ring.

For more coloring ideas across the wider picture, see our main Islamic coloring pages for kids guide, and pair this with Islamic geometric patterns for a full art-and-faith afternoon.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred minus one. Whoever memorises them will enter Paradise.” [Bukhari & Muslim] May Allah make our children among them. Ameen.
