Daily Duas for Children: Supplications Every Muslim Kid Should Know

Duas are the weapons of the believer. When we teach our children to turn to Allah in every moment, we give them strength that lasts a lifetime.

Duas are the weapons of the believer. When we teach our children to turn to Allah in every moment, we give them strength that lasts a lifetime.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Dua is worship.” (Abu Dawud)

Duas are not just words — they are conversations with Allah. When a child learns to say Bismillah before eating or Alhamdulillah after finishing, they are not just following a rule — they are connecting with their Creator.

The most important duas for daily life

Teach these in order of priority. Start with the ones they will use most:

Morning and evening

  • Bismillahi wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah — morning adhkar
  • Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa hu, alayhi tawakkaltu — reliance on Allah

Before and after eating

  • Bismillah — before eating
  • Alhamdulillahilladhi at’amana wa saqana wa ja’alana Muslimin — after eating

Entering and leaving the house

  • Bismillahi tawakkaltu alallah — entering
  • Bismillahi wa wajtayna wa bismillahi kharajna — leaving

Before and after sleeping

  • Bismillahi wa rasoolillah — before sleeping
  • Alhamdulillahilladhi ahyana ba’da ma amatana wa ilayhi nushur — after waking

When entering the mosque

  • Allahummaf-tah li abwaba rahmatik — opening the doors of mercy

When leaving the mosque

  • Allahumma inni as’aluka min fadlik — asking for Allah’s bounty

When it rains

  • Allahumma sayyiban nafi’a — a beneficial rain

When starting any task

  • Bismillah — in the name of Allah

How to teach them

  1. One at a time. Do not overwhelm. Teach one dua per week. Repeat it daily until it becomes natural.
  2. Use it in context. The best time to teach Bismillah is right before a meal. The best time to teach the sleeping dua is at bedtime.
  3. Make it visual. Our Daily Dua Flashcards have each dua with Arabic, transliteration, and English. Print them and place them where they are needed.
  4. Track progress. Use our Daily Dua Tracker to help your child check off each dua as they say it.
  5. Celebrate. When your child says a dua without being reminded, acknowledge it: MashaAllah! You remembered! Allah loves that.

Age progression

AgeFocus
2–3Bismillah, Alhamdulillah, Assalamu alaikum
4–5Eating duas, sleeping duas, entering/leaving mosque
6–7Morning/evening adhkar, duas for specific situations
8–12Extended adhkar, duas from the Quran, personal duas

The power of saying dua together

When you say duas together as a family, something beautiful happens — your children see that you need Allah too. It is not just a rule for kids. It is a way of life.

Before meals, say Bismillah together. After meals, say Alhamdulillah together. Before bed, make dua together. The ritual becomes a bond.
