Manners & Character — tarbiyah in action

Tarbiyah, akhlaq, and the small habits that build a Muslim character. Every lesson is tied to a hadith and a practical action.

How we approach Manners & Character

Character is caught, not taught — but it helps to have a system.

The first 10 hadith of character

"The best of you is the best to his family." "None of you believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself." "Speak good or remain silent." These 10 hadith form the foundation of Islamic character.

Daily practice

The Good Deeds Tracker includes a "Manners" category. Children track saying Bismillah, saying JazakAllahu Khairan, helping without being asked, and being kind to siblings. What gets tracked gets done.

Sunnah habits

Entering the house with the right foot, saying the dua before eating, sleeping on the right side, using the right hand. These are not just "good habits" — they are acts of worship that shape identity.

Correcting with mercy

The Prophet ﷺ corrected gently, never humiliated. When a child makes a mistake in character, we correct the action without attacking the child. "That action is not the best way. Let me show you the sunnah way."

Role models

The Prophet ﷺ is the role model. Stories of the sahabah and the righteous predecessors (as-salaf as-salih) provide concrete examples of good character in action.

The connection to aqeedah

Good character flows from aqeedah. We treat people well because Allah commands it. We are honest because Allah sees us. We forgive because Allah forgives us. Every character lesson connects back to what we believe.

Track the sunnah habits.

The Good Deeds Tracker includes a "Manners" category. Help your child build character one tracked habit at a time.
